What We Do

The Hat Spring Project so named because it’s just like a spring as it constantly flows producing hats and continuously supported by the dedicated effort and passion for the project.

What We Do:  The Hat Spring Project is bringing strangers together to benefit the children of the Natori, Japan.  We distribute beautiful, handmade hats to schools and day care centers for special needs children and adults who survived the tsunami in Natori in 2011.  The hats are knitted by special needs American adults from Anacortes, WA in the USA.

Jamie Van Arsdall of Anacortes is the major donor of these hats that are knitted by her clients.  At a reception in Natori in 2014, Jamie distributed many hats and said

I believe The Hat Spring Project is bringing strangers together to benefit the children. We are sorry you had the tsunami but we are glad you endured. We are united in our desire to encourage you all and keep your ears warm.
